Bharatanatyam is one of the classical dance styles of India, with sculptural evidence dating back nearly 3000 years. A highly spiritual and dedicatory dance form, Bharatanatyam‘s roots go back to the Hindu temples of Tamil Nadu, in South India. Theoretical base of this form traces back to ‘Natya Shastra’, the ancient Sanskrit Hindu text on the performing arts. Over time, Bharatanatyam evolved into a highly stylized and intricate dance form that is now recognized as one of the most popular classical dance styles in India.
